September 2024 Muni Forward Passport

Participants picked up a limited-edition Muni Forward Passport at 2024 Transit Month events and/or participating businesses while supplies lasted.

Passports were used to explore ten of Muni Forward's project corridors. This self-guided tour showcased where the city has invested in projects that improve Muni service with a toolkit of proven transit and safety upgrades.

Participants got their passports “stamped” and won great prizes! On each of the ten Muni Forward corridors during Transit Month, September 2024, passports were stamped by a local business. Click the corridor to see participating businesses!

Celebrating 10 years – and 100 miles – of Muni Forward

Our Muni Forward program aims to make Muni the best way to get around San Francisco. Since 2014, the SFMTA's Muni Forward Program has expanded Muni's Rapid network that makes Muni more reliable and frequent on San Francisco's busiest corridors.

We built 100 miles of improvements to reduce time people riding Muni wait in traffic or at stops. We also improved safety for people walking on Muni routes citywide. We did this with a toolkit of proven transit and safety upgrades like red transit lanes, bus bulbs for faster boarding and traffic signals that stay green for transit.

Muni Forward improvements are made through a systemwide approach, informed by data, customers and the Muni Service Equity Strategy. This groundbreaking strategy delivers transit improvements to San Francisco neighborhoods that rely on Muni most: those with greater numbers of households with low incomes, people of color, seniors and people with disabilities, and lower vehicle rates.

Where the Muni Forward program made improvements over the past decade, ridership has grown, helping to reduce traffic and meet our climate action goals.
