TO: San Francisco Taxi Drivers
SFO reminds all taxi drivers that under the California Vehicle Code 27315, it is the responsibility of the driver of any vehicle to ensure all passengers are wearing their seatbelts before driving. Check in the mirror that everyone is buckled in before departing. If necessary, courteously ask passengers to buckle their belts. SFO has noticed increased cases of for-hire vehicles such as taxis departing before all passengers are securely buckled. For-hire vehicles, including taxis, who are found to have departed before all passengers are buckled may be cited for failure to follow the CVC and/or the SFMTA Transportation code as appropriate.
