Keeping Muni Safe and Respectful for All
Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected on Muni.
We’re committed to creating space free from harassment, where riders treat each other with kindness and respect.
Help us make Muni safer by reporting harassment.
Your voice matters: Together, we can stand up to harassment
Harassment can appear in many ways, from obvious actions to subtle behaviors. Your voice and support for fellow riders helps create a safer community.
What You Can Do:
- For emergencies: Dial 911 and get a police report number
- For non-emergencies: Report harassment like offensive speech or inappropriate behavior to 311 or SFMTA.com/Harassment. You can report anonymously
When reporting, include:
- What: Describe the incident and the individual(s).
- When: Date and time of the incident.
- Where: Location, vehicle number (see photos), route, and cross streets.

Know your rights
- You can always submit reports anonymously to the SFMTA. If you do provide contact information on a report, we don’t share your information.
- The SFMTA will only use your information to follow up with you.
- San Francisco is a sanctuary city. City employees cannot use city resources to assist or cooperate with any ICE investigation, detention or arrest, or ask about immigration status.
The SFMTA’s Safety Equity Initiative
Our Safety Equity Initiative works to make Muni even safer by reducing harassment on Muni.
What we’re working to achieve:
- Policies, investment priorities and security strategies to prevent harassment
- A culture of safety and intervention
- Resources for people who see or experience harassment
