As part of the Portsmouth Square project, the demolition of the Kearny Street pedestrian bridge will require the closure of Kearny Street between Clay and Washington Streets in August 2026. The work will involve both full and partial street closures to accommodate demolition activities and ensure public safety. These temporary traffic modifications are necessary to support the safe and efficient demolition of the pedestrian bridge.
The annual Outside Lands Music Festival will take place on the weekend of August 7-9, 2026, at Golden Gate Park. The event is expected to attract around 75,000 people each day. The SFMTA works with other agencies and with the Outside Lands event to help maximize transportation options, particularly non-private vehicle options, for this annual event.
The Filipino Community is sponsoring its annual Pistahan Parade on Saturday, August 8. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. from Civic Center Plaza and disband at Yerba Buena Gardens where the annual Pistahan Arts Festival will be celebrated on both Saturday and Sunday. Streets will be closed and Muni will reroute service in the area.
Hayes Street will be closed every Friday and Saturday for the remainder of this month for the Hayes Valley Shared Spaces event. During the street closure, Muni will reroute the 6 Hayes/Parnassus Route around the area.
