Muni Market Street Subway Nightly Early Closures for Fix-It Week: May 18-21, 2026

Event Summary

During Fix-It Week events, buses will run above ground to connect all stops, beginning at 9:30 p.m. through the normal end of train service at 12 a.m. T Third Street Line and Owl service will remain unchanged. Trains will start regular morning service each day. • Be sure to receive real-time and scheduled Muni service alerts via email or text by signing up through our Email and Text Subscriptions page.
• Muni passengers are encouraged to leave extra travel time when riding Muni during subway closure.  
• Regular bus fares will apply on bus shuttles and valid transfers will be accepted. 

Event Service Map

Transit Service Plan: 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

• KLM Bus Shuttle will serve all Muni Metro stops between Steuart & Market and St. Francis Circle
• K Ingleside and M Ocean View trains will operate between Balboa Park and St. Francis Circle
• N Judah and J Church trains will operate “interlined” between Balboa Park and Ocean Beach for both directions with a switch at Church/Duboce:
  • J Church train will continue to Ocean Beach as N Judah
  • N Judah train will continue to Balboa Park as J Church
  • N Judah Bus will serve between Duboce & Church and Caltrain
• L Taraval bus shuttles will operate between West Portal and Wawona & 46th.
  • The L Buses will use the regular L Taraval train stops for boarding and drop-off.
  • L Taraval will be motorized during Fix-It Week hours so that the intersection at West Portal remains clear of trains for construction and safety purposes.
• T Third trains will continue to operate normally between Sunnydale and Chinatown

Accessible Transfers at Church & Market: 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

• J Church passengers heading downtown, exit the train at the accessible boarding island on Church St & Market St. Board the KLM Bus Shuttle at the boarding island on Market St & Church St..
• J Church passengers heading toward Balboa Park from Downtown, exit the KLM Bus Shuttle at the boarding island on Market St & Church St. Board the train at the accessible boarding island on Church St & Market St.
• N Judah passengers heading downtown, exit the train at the accessible boarding island on Church St & Market St. Board the KLM Bus Shuttle at the boarding island on Market St & Church St.
• N Judah passengers heading toward Ocean Beach from Downtown, exit the KLM Bus Shuttle at the boarding island on Market St & Church St. Board the train at the accessible boarding island on Church St & Market St.
• For passengers looking to transfer between N and J trains, simply stay on board the train as N Judah and J Church trains will operate between Balboa Park and Judah & La Playa.

For service on Market Street, Muni passengers can board KLM bus shuttles at bus stops marked with the following "JKLMN Metro Bus Sub" signage.
