FINAL UPDATE: System reboot has been completed. IB train switchbacks have been cancelled & we are resuming regular #SubwaySvc operations. Bus shuttles will remain temporarily to provide supplemental svc. We will continue to monitor the system in case the issue reappears. (More: 20 in last 48 hours)

Proposed Commuter Shuttle Zone Changes at August 16 SFMTA Board Hearing

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your continued interest in the SFMTA Commuter Shuttle Program. We would like to inform you of proposed commuter shuttle zone changes at the upcoming SFMTA Board meeting on Tuesday, August 16 at 1pm in City Hall.

The Commuter Shuttle Program was approved in March 2016 by the SFMTA Board and has been in effect since April 1, 2016.  The 2016-2017 Program includes measures to keep larger shuttles on designated arterials and off smaller streets, reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and emissions, and ensure a safe and efficient transportation network for everyone on San Francisco streets.  Click here to read more about the details of the 2016-2017 Commuter Shuttle Program. 

The proposed changes at the August 16th SFMTA Board meeting are as follows:

A. ESTABLISH – TOW-AWAY NO PARKING, PERMITTED COMMUTER SHUTTLE BUS ZONE, 6 AM TO 10 AM, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY – Lombard Street, south side, from Scott Street to 144 feet easterly (restricts parking at 5 metered parking spaces)

B. ESTABLISH – TOW-AWAY NO PARKING, PERMITTED COMMUTER SHUTTLE BUS ZONE, 4 PM TO 8 PM, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY – Lombard Street, north side, from Scott Street to 125 feet westerly (restricts parking at 6 metered parking spaces)

C. ESTABLISH – TOW AWAY NO STOPPING PERMITTED COMMUTER SHUTTLE BUS ZONE, 6 AM TO 10 AM, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY – Gough Street, west side, from 75 feet to 205 feet south of Turk Street (restricts parking at 6 metered spaces)

The proposed changes on Lombard Street were recommended as part of the Lombard Street Safety Project. The new stops would replace existing shared Muni zones along that corridor, eliminating conflicts between commuter shuttles and Muni buses and improving safety for people walking along Lombard Street. The proposed stop on Gough Street at Turk Street would provide extra capacity along that corridor while construction on the Van Ness Improvement Project gets underway.
