2024 Planning and Engineering Internship Program Now Taking Applications!

Calling aspiring transportation planners and engineers!

We are currently accepting applications for San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s (SFMTA) summer internship program through Monday, January 15, 2024. Gain valuable on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced transportation professionals. Interns will participate in transportation planning and engineering activities including:

  • Plan, design, and implement bicycle, pedestrian, safety, or complete streets projects
  • Transit planning for Muni, the City of San Francisco’s transit agency
  • Perform community outreach and engagement
  • Attend field trips and seminars to learn about various teams within the agency

How to apply:

Step 1. Visit Careers at SFMTA page at SF.gov

Step 2. Enter ‘intern’ in the search box to find a list of the intern positions and select which internship you want to apply for, depending on your qualifications: two for engineering and two for planning at SFMTA.

Step 3. Follow instructions on the page to apply. Make sure to include a cover letter and resume. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 15, 2024.
