At approximately 2:00 pm, on August 29, during the street base demolition in preparation for the foundation pour between 29th and 30th avenues, the contractor accidentally damaged a shallow gas line located 6" below grade. PG&E responded promptly, starting repairs by 2:25 pm and completing them by 5:30 pm. The Fire Department was also on site and secured the area.
The construction crew also reported a second gas line, 9.5" below grade, as near 1920 Taraval. PGE inspected the line and determined the line to be inactive abandoned line. The line was cut and safely removed and capped with no incident.
