Celebrate Small Business Week with Muni: Explore the Outer Sunset, Parkside, Visitacion Valley and West Portal

Our Small Business Week blog series continues with spotlights on the Outer Sunset, Parkside, Visitacion Valley and West Portal.

Today, we highlight how to Go Local in each neighborhood – and all the ways Muni can get you there.

Outer Sunset 

When you Go Local in the Outer Sunset, you get to soak up views of the Pacific, stroll by colorful homes and check out charming small businesses. It’s no surprise that locals and visitors alike are fans! 

Shop 

The Outer Sunset is home to a range of small businesses. It’s where you can find handmade crafts, vintage gifts and plenty of seasonal produce.  

Dine 

In the Outer Sunset, you’ve got lots of options to grab a snack, sit down for a meal or join friends for a drink. The neighborhood boasts artisanal coffee and distinctive pastries. Plus, it has food from around the world and plenty of bars to choose from.

The new and improved L Taraval is one great way to get to the Parkside with Muni.

Parkside 

In the Parkside, you’ll find a nice balance of vibrant city life and a cozy, community-oriented feel. You can enjoy walks on tree-lined streets and visit a diverse set of small businesses.

There are plenty of locally owned shops to explore when you Go Local in the Parkside! On your Muni ride over, you can visit the retail section of the city’s Shop Dine Taraval webpage for a range of suggestions. 

Dine

Visitacion Valley 

A trip to Visitacion Valley brings you to a diverse and sunny neighborhood where you can try food from around the world. When you Go Local in Visitation Valley, you’ll find many new and long-standing businesses with a warm mom-n-pop character. 

Shop

Dine

West Portal 

West Portal is lined with locally owned businesses – from cafes and restaurants to boutiques and bookstores. And as its name suggests, the neighborhood is just steps from West Portal Station! So, it’s plenty accessible for locals and visitors alike.  

Shop

Go Local in West Portal and you can find artisanal goods, vintage items and more. The West Portal Merchants Association webpage includes an events section that can help you discover small businesses throughout the neighborhood.

Dine

In West Portal, there are lots of cafes, bakeries, bars and restaurants to explore. You can grab a cup of coffee or a craft cocktail and enjoy both local and international cuisine.
