Event Summary
The 2026 Pokémon World Championship will take place from August 28-30 at the Moscone Center. There will be street closures and traffic detours in SoMa near the Moscone Center from Tuesday, August 18, through Tuesday, September 1. Muni service will not require any reroutes for the duration of the event, though some minor delays may be possible in the area.
Street Closures
Some streets near the Moscone Center will have have either full or partial closures:
Full Closure
From Wednesday, August 19, at 6 a.m. to Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m.:
- Howard between 3rd and 4th streets
From Tuesday, August 25, through Sunday, August 30, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily:
- Minna between 4th Street and 500-feet west of 4th street
Partial Closure
From Wednesday, August 19, at 6 a.m. to Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m.:
- Howard between Hawthorne and 3rd streets
- The parking lane and travel lane on the left (south) side will be closed
- 3rd Street between Folsom and Howard streets
- The two travel/tow away lanes on the left (west) side will be closed
- 3rd Street between Howard and Mission streets
- The travel/tow lane on the left (west) side will be closed
- Folsom between 3rd and 5th streets
- The travel/tow lane on the left (north) side will be closed
- 4th Street between and Howard and Folsom streets
- The travel lane on the left (east) side will be closed
From Wednesday, August 26, at 10 p.m. to Monday, August 31, at 4 a.m.:
- Howard between 4th street and 500-feet west of 4th Street
- The travel lane, bike lane and parking lane on the right (north) side will be closed
Parking Garages
Parking garages in the area will be fully open.
- 5th & Mission
- Regular entrances on 5th and Mission will be open
- Moscone Center
- Ellis-O'Farrell
Taxi Zones
A Taxi Zone is established on the east side of 3rd St between Mission and Howard.
Muni Service
Muni will use regular routing and regular bus stops on Stockton and on 4th St. Muni should not be impacted by the daily closures of 4th St.
