Those traveling on the corridor are advised to stay alert and allow more travel time during construction. Polk Street, one block east of Van Ness Avenue, is a recommended alternative for people traveling by bicycle in the area.

At times, bus stops along Van Ness Avenue and its side streets need to be relocated to perform construction for the Van Ness Improvement Project. Signage directs riders to temporary stops.
 
The work listed below is scheduled for daytimes, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Planned night work is italicized. The night shift for construction is 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. During this time, neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise and vibrations as crews work diligently to complete necessary night work.
 
The following Van Ness Improvement Project construction forecast is subject to change. For more project details, please visit SFMTA.com/VanNess. In the next two weeks crews are scheduled to work on overhead power installations, traffic signal wiring and hardware installation, light pole setting and related work. 
 
 
Monday through Friday, April 26 through April 30

  • Filbert to Union. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Paving scheduled at Union intersection will partially close intersection at times.
  • Union to Green. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m..  Paving scheduled at Union intersection will partially close intersection at times.
  • Green to Vallejo. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.  Paving scheduled at Green intersection will partially close intersection at times.
  • Vallejo to Broadway. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. 
  • Broadway to Pacific. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. 
  • Pacific to Jackson. *Disruptive noise is expected. Night work is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
