Vision Zero SF brings home a silver Telly Award for their campaign which aims to eliminate traffic deaths through a targeted series of short, topic-specific social media shareable videos.

The unique social media clip won a Silver Award for safety-oriented videos at the 39th Annual Telly Awards from a pool of 12,000 submissions from all 50 states and five continents.

While motorcycle riders are only two percent of San Francisco road users, they account for 20 percent of the City’s traffic fatalities. We’re now arming riders with lesser known safe riding tips —aiming to improve traffic safety for riders and all San Francisco street users.

The award-winning campaign production represents work honored from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world.

“The Vision Zero SF team is thrilled to accept this award on behalf of all Vision Zero partners and everyone who works toward an end to fatalities and serious injuries on our streets," said Tom Bellino, a transportation planner at the SFMTA. "The San Francisco motorcycle community deserves safe streets and we hope these videos help us create a safer city for them.”

The five-minute video educates and promotes safe urban riding behaviors among San Francisco motorcyclists. It features hand-drawn illustrations of San Francisco streetscapes and a green screen live rider who demonstrates safety tips—such as slower speeds, extra care when making left turns and special precautions to take given San Francisco’s fog, steep hills and light rail tracks in the road.

The series is also now featured in classroom-based training sessions on motorcycle safety around the Bay Area.
