Pursuant to SFMTA Order No. 6650, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency held an online public hearing on Friday, May 26, 2023 regarding the following proposed changes. On June 1, 2023, the changes below have been approved or withdrawn for further evaluation. Items forwarded for implementation by directive constitute a Final SFMTA Decision. Final SFMTA Decisions, whether made by the City Traffic Engineer or the SFMTA Board, can be reviewed by the Board of Supervisors pursuant to Ordinance 127-18. The 3800 block of 24th Street is on the high injury network and lacks optimal intersection visibility. To improve safety, the SFMTA establishes red zone near intersections, called daylighting. Daylighting removes visual barriers near a crosswalk or intersection to increase the visibility of those who walk, bike, or drive prior to entering an intersection.
* Public Comments: A member of the public stated that commercial loading should be in effect on Saturday as well. A resident sent an email and spoke at the hearing regarding their concerns about removing a parking space for daylighting. Staff responded that since this street is on the high injury network daylighting standards are 20 feet and this space cannot be used for a general metered parking space. The applicant spoke in support of relocating the commercial loading zone and stated they do not receive deliveries on Saturday.

If the City Traffic Engineer disapproves or declines a parking or traffic modification, a member of the public must request additional review by the SFMTA of that decision, which shall be conducted pursuant to Division II, Section 203 of the Transportation Code before the decision becomes a Final SFMTA Decision. Final SFMTA Decisions, whether made by the City Traffic Engineer or the SFMTA Board, can be reviewed by the Board of Supervisors pursuant to Ordinance 127-18.
