TO: San Francisco Taxi Drivers

Caltrans is scheduled to implement an overnight closure of Southbound Highway 101 from South Airport Boulevard to San Bruno Avenue. The closure on Sunday, July 17th, from 1:00 am to 6:00 am, is needed to replace the overhead sign structures that span across the southbound traffic lanes near the Airport. This work is part of the San Mateo 101 Express Lanes Project which will reduce traffic congestion, encourage transit use and carpooling on Highway 101 in San Mateo County. Note this work is a continuation of previous closures.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to exit the freeway at the Produce Avenue/South Airport Boulevard Off-Ramp. Detour signs will be in place to clearly guide them to the South Airport Boulevard/ I-380 intersection where traffic can diverge towards multiple destinations. Motorists heading towards the Airport will continue straight on South Airport Boulevard and use the San Bruno Avenue on-ramp towards the Airport. The detour map below provides the exact detour route. Taxi drivers are advised to be familiar with the proposed detour route and allow extra travel time. Northbound traffic will be unaffected.
