Roberta Boomer has been serving as Secretary to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency since 1994 when she was invited to join the newly formed Public Transportation Commission. In 2000, Ms. Boomer oversaw the transition of this Commission to the Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors and the creation of the SFMTA's Citizens' Advisory Council. Boomer is also accountable for the SFMTA's response to public records requests and record retention policy. In San Francisco government, she is known as the “go to person” for educating new policy body and advisory council members about how to serve on a governmental policy body and for new policy body support staff. Prior to 1994, she served six years as a legislative aid to a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and created the “Leadership San Francisco” program for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Boomer has long been active in the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), having been the SFMTA’s event planner for the 2000 Annual Conference and Roadeo, the 2008 Rail Conference and most recently, the 2015 Annual Conference. Ms. Boomer is currently a member of APTA's Board of Directors and serves as Chair of the Transit Board Support committee. Ms. Boomer graduated from Stanford University with a degree in psychology.
