San Francisco, CA -- The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) today announced Muni will offer complementary rides on New Year’s Eve for the 26th consecutive year. Service will be free-of-charge on all Muni routes and lines across the system citywide from 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, through 5 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Muni customers will not need to tap their credit or clipper cards, or use Muni Mobile passes, as Metro fare gates will remain open during the free service period.

“Muni is the best way to enjoy events across San Francisco, and by offering free service on New Year’s Eve, we’re making it easier for our customers to enjoy celebrations safely,” said SFMTA Director of Transportation Julie Kirschbaum. "Despite a challenging financial situation, we’re proud to offer complementary and extra services on New Year’s Eve for 26 years, because we know our customers rely on Muni to get them to and from where they need to be and keeping our customers safe remains our number one priority.”
