6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project Scope Update

In response to feedback from the 6th Street community the SFMTA has updated the 6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project scope. The proposed roadway configuration will retain two lanes of traffic in the northbound direction in place of the proposed bike lanes on 6th Street between Market and Howard Streets. To ensure that the SFMTA can meet its pedestrian safety project goals, the proposed project elements still include reducing one lane of traffic in the southbound direction between Market to Howard Streets, installing traffic signals, widening sidewalks, adding corner bulb-outs and painted crosswalks.
