Greetings from the Bayview Community Pathway project team! We have been busy working on the design for this new corridor that will make it easier and safer for people to bike, walk, roll and take transit in the Bayview. We’ve also spent the summer collecting stories from Bayview residents of all ages to learn about their experiences getting around the neighborhood. We’d love to see you at one of our upcoming events to share more about the project.
Sunday Streets – We will be at Sunday Streets on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 12-5 p.m. Along with the amazing programming at this event, there will also be opportunities to meet with staff and give feedback:
- Pedestrian plaza demonstration – We will be modeling ideas for what the future pedestrian plaza at Underwood and 3rd Street could look like. There will be furniture, plants, and other placemaking elements. Stop by to get a tour!
- Tours – We're offering short, free walking tours of part of the corridor at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. during the event. Come to our booth 5 minutes before your desired tour time to join us!
- Themes and colors for decorative crosswalks - Share your thoughts about what the decorative crosswalks along the pathway could look like. There will be multiple ways to share ideas including a coloring activity perfect for folks of all ages.
Project Showcase at the D10 Health Fest – On October 17, 2026, we’ll be at the District 10 Health Fest at the Southeast Community Center, where we will be celebrating the stories of Bayview residents and looking ahead to the next steps of bringing the Bayview Community Pathway to life. Caltrans funding has allowed us to commission art from a number of Bayview artists, including a dance performance by Zaccho Dance Theatre and a painting by Nina Fabunmi. Come early for the opportunity to get a free print of Nina’s work! We’ll share more details as the event approaches.
As always, we welcome your feedback about the project by emailing us at BayviewPathway@SFMTA.com
