Detailed accounts of recent major system delays of 30-minutes or longer. We apologize if you were inconvenienced by any of these delays and thank you for riding Muni. Incidents are posted on this page no earlier than the following regular business day.

 

Monday, July 31

  • From 8:41 p.m. through the end of service, the Powell Mason Cable Car Line was delayed at Mason and Washington streets due to a mechanical issue.
  • From 3:24 to 8:25 p.m., the eastbound Muni Metro subway was delayed at Church Station due to a disabled train. The northbound M Ocean View and K Ingleside lines switched back at West Portal Station while the eastbound N Judah Line and northbound J Church Line switched back at Church Street and Duboce Avenue. N Judah trains provided service between Fourth and King streets and Embarcadero Station. Bus shuttles provided between service between West Portal and Embarcadero stations.

Sunday, July 30

  • From 5:12 to 7:17 p.m., the M Ocean View Line was blocked in both directions at Randolph Street and Orizaba Avenue due to police activity. Southbound M trains switched back at SF State University. Bus shuttles supported line service.

Saturday, July 29

  • From 7:52 to 8:30 p.m., the 49 Van Ness/Mission Route routed around Mission and 24th streets in both directions due to police activity.

Thursday, July 27

  • From 6:21 to 7:40 p.m., the southbound 35 Eureka Route routed around Moffitt and Bemis streets due to police activity.
  • From 6:00 to 6:48 p.m., the N Judah Line was delayed at Judah Street & 19th Avenue in both directions due to a non-Muni collision.
  • From 2:14 to 4:00 p.m., the eastbound M Ocean View Line switched back at Broad Street and Plymouth Avenue due to a pantograph issue. Bus shuttles supported service.

Tuesday, July 25

  • From 5:53 to 3:05 p.m., the northbound 27 Bryant Route routed around Bryant Street between 21st and 22nd streets due to a sinkhole. 
  • From the start of service to 6:21 a.m., the N Judah Line was blocked in both directions at The Embarcadero and Folsom Street due to fire department activity. Eastbound N trains switched back at Ferry Portal. Bus shuttles supported line service.

Monday, July 24

  • From 4:52 to 5:36 p.m., the Powell/Hyde Cable Car Line was delayed in both directions due to a cable strand alarm. 

Sunday, July 23

  • From 6:56 to 7:54 a.m., the 23 Monterey Route was routed around Monterey Boulevard and Circular Avenue in both directions due to a non-Muni collision.

Saturday, July 22

  • From 4:03 to 5:10 p.m., the eastbound 29 Sunset Route was routed around Mansell Street and Visitacion Avenue due to a non-Muni collision.

Friday, July 21,

  • From 9:49 p.m. through the end of service, the Powell Hyde Cable Car Line was down due to a stalled street car along Hyde Street.
  • From 2:00 to 2:58 a.m., the eastbound 5 Fulton Owl Route was routed around McAllister and Polk streets due to police activity.

Wednesday, July 19

  • From 4:42 to 6:52 p.m., the westbound F Market and Wharves Line was delayed at Market and Seventh streets due to track repair work. Southbound F streetcars switched back at Ferry Plaza.
  • From 9:14 a.m. to 12:06 p.m., the California Cable Car Line was down due to an electrical issue. Motor coaches provided line service.
  • From 7:54 to 10:02 a.m., the  the westbound F Market and Wharves Line was delayed at Market and 11th streets due to an overhead wire issue. Southbound F streetcars switched back at Ferry Plaza.

Monday, July 17

  • From 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., the T Third Street Line was delayed in both directions due to a loose metal roadway plate on the Fourth Street bridge. Northbound T trains switched back at Fourth and Channel streets. Southbound T trains switched back at Third and Bluxome streets. Bus shuttles supported line service.

Sunday, July 16

  • From 12:43 to 1:18 p.m., the westbound Muni Metro Subway was delayed at Embarcadero Station due to a stalled train.
  • From 5:04 to 5:39 a.m., the northbound M Ocean View Line was blocked at Broad Street and Orizaba Avenue by an automobile on the track way.

Saturday, July 15

  • From 5:28 to 6:21 p.m., the 8 Bayshore, 8BX Bayshore Express, and 49 Van Ness/Mission routes were routed around Frida Khalo Way and Ocean Avenue in both directions due to police activity.
  • From 9:07 to 10:23 a.m., the southbound 15 Bayview/Hunters Point Express Route was routed around Fourth and Bryant streets due to a disabled automobile.

Thursday, July 13

  • From 9:08 to 11:44 a.m., the westbound 7 Haight/Noriega Route routed around Frederick Street and third Avenue due to construction.
  • From 8:45 to 9:28 a.m., the 38 Geary Route routed around V.A. Hospital (Fort Miley) in both directions due to police training.

Wednesday, July 12

  • From 6:27 p.m. through the end of service, the Powell Hyde Cable Car Line was down due to a mechanical issue. Motor coaches provided line service.
  • From 9:48 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the westbound 38 Geary Route was routed around 42nd Avenue between Clement Street and Point Lobos Avenue due to sewer repair work.

Monday, July 10

  • From 12:16 to 2:47 p.m., the 9R San Bruno Rapid Route was routed around the McLaren School due to a downed PG&E pole.
  • From 11:35 a.m. to 1:29 p.m., the Powell Mason Cable Car Line was down due to a cable issue. Motor coaches provided line service.
  • From 9:29 to 9:59 a.m., due to fire department activity on Market Street between Eighth and Seventh streets, eastbound Market Street bus service and the northbound 19 Polk Route were routed around the affected area while the eastbound F Market and Wharves Line was blocked.

Saturday, July 8

  • From 7:45 to 9:55 p.m., due to police activity near Church and 18th streets, the 22 Fillmore and 33 Ashbury/18th Street routes were routed around the area. The northbound J Church Line switched back at Church and 22nd streets while southbound J trains switched back at Church and Reservior streets.
  • From 11:17 a.m. to 12:01 p.m., the southbound 14 Mission and 14 Mission Rapid routes rerouted around Mission and Evergreen streets due to police activity.
  • From 11:04 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., all Market Street service routed via Mission Street in both directions due to police activity at Market and Fifth streets. Southbound F Market & Wharves Line streetcars switched back at The Ferry Building. Eastbound F streetcars switched back at Market and 11th streets.
  • From 5:11 to 6:10 a.m., the southbound M Ocean View Line was delayed at 19th Avenue and Holloway Avenue due to a signal issue. Bus shuttles supported line service.

Thursday, July 6

  • From 3:29 to 4:32 p.m., the 44 O'Shaughnessy Route was routed around Silver Avenue and Vienna Street in both directions due to fire department activity.

Wednesday, July 5

  • From 1:42 to 5:19 p.m., the westbound N Judah Line was delayed at Judah Street and 22nd Avenue due to downed overhead wire. Westbound N trains switched back at Carl Street and Hillway Avenue. Bus shuttles supported service.

Tuesday, July 4

  • From 12:59 to 2:13 p.m., the Powell Hyde Cable Car Line was down due to a mechanical issue at Hyde and Jackson streets. Hyde cable cars were routed onto the Powell Mason Cable Car Line.

Monday, July 3

  • From 12:59 to 5:39 p.m., the California Cable Car Line was down due to a mechanical issue at California and Hyde streets. Motor coaches provided service.
  • From 9:12 to 10:13 a.m., the westbound 1 California Route was routed around California Street and Eighth Avenue due to a non-Muni collision.

Sunday, July 2

  • From 4:45 to 5:16 p.m., the southbound J Church Line was delayed due to an auto in the trackway at San Jose Avenue and Monterey Boulevard. Southbound J trains switched back at Church and Day streets. Bus shuttles supported line service.
  • From 2:02 to 2:43 p.m., the eastbound F Market and Wharves Line was delayed at Market and Gough streets due to a medical emergency. Southbound F streetcars switched back at the Ferry Building. Bus shuttles supported line service.
  • From 7:08 to 8:20 a.m., the southbound 8 Bayshore Route routed around Sunrise Way and Hahn Street due to an illegally parked auto blocking the street.
