Metric

Workplace injuries per 200,000 hours

Purpose

Tracking injury rates by type, work location and occupation helps identify opportunities for safety improvements that keep our workforce healthy and productive.

Definition

Workplace injuries are measured as counts of workers compensation claims and are normalized to 200,000 work hours (typical annual work hours for 100 FTE employees) and reported agency-wide.

Methodology

sum ([number of injury claims]) x 200,000 ÷ sum ([work hours])

Target

Reduce injury rate to 12.2 in FY19 and 12.0 in FY20
