We made things groovy with Psychedelibuses and there’s more fun in store -- Transit Month events happening citywide.
Muni shows up every day, all year long, to help people get where they need to go. That means rides to school and work and appointments. It means trips to parks and small businesses.
That’s why September is a special time for San Francisco. It marks the start of Transit Month – a chance for Muni riders to connect and celebrate the system that keeps our city moving.
And this year already stands out. This week, the city passed a resolution to declare September 2025 as Muni Heritage Month. It was initiated by Supervisor Matt Dorsey and supported by all other city supervisors. The resolution honors Muni’s rich history and decades of public service. It also recognizes our work along with Market Street Railway to preserve historic Muni cable cars, streetcars and buses.
We hope you’ll join us to celebrate at Transit Month events across the city! Learn the details.

Proud to help you get where you need to go
No matter how you choose to celebrate with us this Transit Month, we are glad to have you on board.
Our teams work hard to get people to school, work and neighborhoods across the city. And we’re always thrilled to hear what our system makes possible for local communities.
Supervisor Matt Dorsey told us why Muni matters so much for his district.
“Muni is a lifeline for so many in District 6, especially seniors and people with disabilities who depend on reliable, affordable transit to travel across San Francisco for appointments, groceries, or simply to stay connected with their communities,” Supervisor Dorsey said.
“When we invest in Muni, we’re investing in equity, accessibility, and the independence of our most vulnerable neighbors — and that strengthens our entire city.”
