What to Expect:

Step aboard unique vintage transit vehicles rarely seen on the modern streets of San Francisco. The festivities will unfold near the San Francisco Railway Museum, conveniently located near the Ferry Building and Embarcadero Plaza.  All vintage buses and special excursion streetcars depart for round trip rides from the plaza directly across from the museum.

Event Highlights:

  • Ride Vintage transit: Hop aboard historic streetcars, buses, and cable cars spanning 25 to 141 years of service. Don't forget to check out additional vintage vehicles on display in the outdoor plaza.
  • Motorized Cable Car: Skip the Powell turnaround lines! Snap a photo with our mobile cable car—once part of regular service, now modified to travel anywhere. Learn to ring the bell and discover the history behind the iconic Cable Car Bell Ringing Contest coming back this December.
  • Family-friendly fun: Enjoy kids’ activities, artifact exhibits, and informational booths for all ages.
  • Special tours: Sign up in advance for a guided cable car walking tour hosted by SF City Guides.
  • Visit the SF Railway Museum: Free admission plus a chance to grab a unique transit-themed souvenir.
  • The Muni Store Pop-upThe Muni Store is coming to life! Pick up your favorite Muni official merch in person—and ride in style.

A Captivating Experience

  • Ride the same transit vehicles that generations of San Franciscans once used, including the beloved 1896 "Dinky" streetcar.
  • Cruise along the Embarcadero and up Market Street to Castro aboard one of Muni’s iconic “Boat Trams” from Blackpool, England.
  • Take a ride through time—experience buses from every decade between the 1930s and 2010s, including ones you may remember from your own childhood.
