As employees of the City and County of San Francisco, Transit Operators receive an excellent compensation and benefits package and are offered the choice of seasonal reassignments. As an SFMTA employee, you would become part of an extended family of individuals who take great civic pride in promoting the use of public transit and San Francisco’s Transit First policy, the city’s blueprint for creating a more environmentally sustainable community.

All Muni operators start out driving motor coaches before they get the chance to move on to other vehicles like electric trolley buses and light-rail vehicles.

If you or someone you know is ready to start the journey, see the Become a Muni Driver web page to learn more about the steps and qualifications needed to become a Transit operator. Please go to the Transit Operator (Job Code 9163) job announcement page and apply now. The announcement will close at 5 p.m., June 24.

In addition to our social channels, we are reaching out to California employment and veterans affairs offices, union and city partners, local and regional colleges as well as non-profit employment and other support organizations.
