San Mateo County & San Francisco County One Ride Pilot
How does the One-Seat Ride (OSR) pilot program work?
This program is for ADA paratransit riders traveling for medical appointments between San Mateo and San Francisco counties. The One-Seat Ride (OSR) program lets you travel to medical appointments in the neighboring county without switching vehicles.
Normally, you would need to get out of one paratransit vehicle and into another to complete your trip. With this program, you stay in one vehicle the whole way.

You must be ADA Paratransit eligible, and the trip must be for a medical purpose.
This pilot program runs from July 2026 to June 2027.
Where can I go?
You can go to and from medical appointments anywhere in San Francisco that are outside of the Redi-Wheels service area.

If your destination name doesn't clearly indicate a medical facility, you may be asked for a few details about the purpose of your visit to verify eligibility.
Can I use the OSR only for medical trips or for any reason?
During the pilot, riders can only take OSR trips for medical purposes. Examples include:
- Visit to your medical provider
- Surgeries and any pre/post operations imaging or lab work
- Physical therapy or rehabilitation
- Dialysis
- Medical device repairs or fittings (e.g., wheelchair repairs, prosthetic fittings)
Non-eligible trips may include:
- Trips not related to medical care, such as work, recreation, or personal errands, are not eligible.
- Trips to and from San Francisco International Airport.
- Medical conferences or events where you are not receiving direct medical care
- Visits to family or friends living in assisted living facilities or hospital
Trips not eligible for a one-seat ride may still be booked with a transfer between providers.
When can I take an OSR trip?
OSR trips are available Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

How do I schedule an OSR trip?
You must call the respective paratransit agencies at least two (2) days in advance. For example, Monday trips must be booked by Saturday of the previous week.
To schedule a ride from San Mateo to San Francisco: Contact the Redi-Wheels reservation at 650.482.9350 and tell them you would like to schedule a one-seat ride to San Francisco.
To schedule a ride from San Francisco to San Mateo: Contact San Francisco Paratransit at 415.285.6945 and tell them you would like to schedule a one-seat ride to San Mateo.
Will I get a direct trip to my destination, and will I travel alone in the vehicle?
No. Like all paratransit trips, OSR trips are a shared ride. This means that other riders with different destinations may be picked up and dropped off along the way and the routing is not direct. Your trip may take a comparable amount of time using SamTrans and Muni buses, including any transfers.
How much does it cost?
Riders will pay $8.00 for each one-way OSR trip.
The following are the only acceptable payment methods for OSR trips:
- Cash
- Pre-paid Redi-Wheels paper tickets for the Redi-Wheels trips
- Pre-paid SF Access paper tickets for SF Paratransit trips
Exact cash is required. Drivers will not make change for any overpayments of cash or pre-paid van tickets.
Can I bring someone along with me on my paratransit trip?
If you are ADA Paratransit certified as needing a personal care attendant (PCA), your PCA may ride with you at no charge. You may also bring a guest. Guests pay the same $8 fare as the ride. Guests and PCAs must travel to and from the same locations as the eligible rider at all times. When you reserve your ride, you must let the reservationist know that an attendant and/or guest will travel with you.
What if I need to cancel an OSR trip?
Please call the Paratransit service that will be providing your OSR trip. Cancel at least two hours before the scheduled pick up time to avoid a late cancellation/no show penalty.

The dispatcher will not automatically cancel your return trip with the other paratransit agency. You are responsible for canceling with both agencies separately to avoid a late cancellation or no-show.
What if I miss or might miss my return ride?
Redi-Wheels and San Franciso Paratransit have a no-strand policy. If you miss your return ride, you will not be left stranded. Please call the dispatch of the Paratransit agency providing your trip and explain your situation. Arrangements will be made to take you home as soon as a route can be assigned for your trip.
Please keep in mind that it may take up to an hour or more for a vehicle to come back to pick you up, particularly during busy periods.
