This past weekend, the Recreation and Parks Department and the SFMTA joined Sunday Streets in Golden Gate Park to present our latest proposals for traffic safety improvements as part of the Golden Gate Park Traffic Safety Project.

Construction for the Twin Peaks Tunnel Improvement Project has been put on hold due to contract termination. No construction will begin this year. Staging areas established near West Portal and Castro Stations will be cleared out shortly.

The Eddy Street Two-Way Conversion Project is scheduled to be heard at the SFMTA Engineering Public Hearing on June 2nd. This project proposes to convert Eddy Street (between Leavenworth to Mason streets) from an existing one-way to two-way street.

The SFMTA is considering permanently adopting the traffic and parking regulations introduced in the Powell Safety Pilot.

The SFMTA is considering permanently adopting the traffic and parking regulations introduced in the Powell Safety Pilot. This follows a successful 18-month pilot which showed that the regulations improved traffic safety and reduced wear on the cable car's mechanical parts.

For our Muni customers who transfer to/from BART at the Balboa Park Station, please be advised that starting Monday, October 3, 2016, the Balboa Park Station BART entrance on San Jose Ave will be closed until the end of the year.
