Geary Rapid Project Construction Forecast: July 13 - July 26, 2019

The first phase of construction as part of the Geary Rapid Project continues. Work to replace aging water and sewer lines on Geary Boulevard is being done in coordination with San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

The following two-week construction forecast is subject to change due to weather delays or unexpected field conditions.

Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.:

  • Water main replacement work is planned for the weeks of July 15 and July 22 near Scott Street.
  • Testing of newly installed water pipes in preparation for customer service is planned for the weeks of July 15 and July 22 between Presidio and Scott streets.
  • Sewer main replacement is planned for the week of July 15 on Geary Boulevard between Divisadero and Scott streets. Starting the week of July 22, a second work crew is planned to be added, with work planned on the southside of Geary Boulevard between Steiner and Scott streets and the northside of Geary Boulevard between Broderick and Divisadero streets.
  • Installation of underground conduit for fiber optic cables is planned for the weeks of July 15 and July 22 between Lyon Street and St. Joseph's Avenue.
  • Some parking will be temporarily restricted in the area and traffic lanes will be modified during active work. No bus stops will be affected.

Muni Service Returns to the Salesforce Transit Center Starting Saturday, July 13

Starting Saturday, July 13, Muni will resume 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid service to the Transbay Transit Center.

Customers who travel to the temporary Transbay Terminal for the 25 Treasure Island route, AC Transit/WestCAT, Greyhound, Bolt or AMTRAK will need to cross between the bus plaza and Beale Street.

The remaining services at the temporary Transbay Terminal are scheduled to return to the Transit Center on Sunday, August 11.
