Alemany Corridor Safety Project Update + Draft Recommendations

Thanks for your interest in the Alemany Corridor Safety Project.

Utilizing the feedback we received from the December 2019 open house, as well the feedback received via email, our project team has developed a number of recommendations for Alemany Boulevard to improve safety for those who walk, bike and drive on the corridor. A draft of the recommendations, along with background information is available here and on the project webpage.

A short survey is live and will be available until the end of June. After receiving and reviewing feedback from the community, the SFMTA will work on finalizing these recommendations and submitting them to the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA) for consideration and adoption in summer 2020.

As the Shelter in Place Order is lifted and city crews begin to have more capacity, the SFMTA will support in installing near-term safety improvements on the Alemany corridor. These improvements will involve paint and signage. Community members can expect to see ongoing work and curb ramp installation through SF Public Works’ contractor. Following the paving, crews will begin to install permanent striping, along with a buffered bike lane.
