Starting April 1: Installation of Temporary HOV lanes on Park Presidio Boulevard and Park Presidio Bypass

Route(s) Affected

In coordination with Caltrans, and following the SFMTA Board of Directors’ approval of the Park Presidio Lombard Temporary HOV Lanes in April 2021, the temporary HOV lanes are planned to be installed on the Park Presidio segment starting the night of Friday, April 1, 2022. The temporary HOV lanes on the Lombard segment were installed in September 2021.

Planned installation dates of the temporary HOV lanes: The night of Friday, April 1. (Park Presidio segment)

Timeline of sign installation and painting: Approximately three to six weekend nights. Work will take place on weekend nights from approximately 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. to minimize traffic impacts.

Traffic impacts: Temporary closures of lanes while crews paint the roadway.

Transit impacts: Minor transit impacts may occur due to crews working.

Once installed, these HOV lanes will be usable by passenger vehicles with two or more passengers, buses, motorcycles, and vehicles with Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decals and will help to improve the travel time and reliability of Muni and Golden Gate Transit service by keeping buses out of traffic.
