New Proposals for Improved Safety at West Portal – Take the Survey by Sunday, April 28

Share this:

The West Portal Station Safety and Community Space Improvements Project is a new effort to respond to Mayor London Breed and District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar's request to improve safety near West Portal Station.

“West Portal is one of the most travelled and cherished neighborhoods in San Francisco. Its station should exemplify the name: a portal to the westside. But our current station is in dire need of improvements to make it safer for people going to work, school, and frequenting our small businesses. My office is working closely with the SFMTA and the Mayor’s Office to be bold and swift with the necessary improvements at West Portal Station Project." - District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar

We have heard from community members who have long felt this unusual intersection and the surrounding area is confusing and in need of improvement.  People traveling by all modes- driving, walking, biking – note that it feels confusing and, at times, chaotic, as they navigate Muni trains and buses, commercial traffic, and other drivers in a wide intersection.
