This proposal seeks to 1) improve safety at the intersection of Fulton Street at Arguello Boulevard and 2) improve traffic flow on Fulton Street by adding a dedicated left turn lane for eastbound traffic turning from Fulton Street onto Arguello Boulevard.

Map showing the approximate location of the proposed left turn pocket and the approximate area of parking to be removed.

At Fulton Street and Arguello Boulevard, the existing unprotected left turn configuration requires vehicles that are turning left from Fulton Street onto Arguello Boulevard to wait for a break in oncoming, westbound traffic before turning. While vehicles wait to turn, traffic backs up in the left eastbound lane.

The left turn from Fulton Street to Arguello Boulevard would remain unprotected.

The proposal would require the removal of 11 parking spaces on Fulton Street – seven on the south side of the street and four on the north side of the street.
