Sunset Tunnel Weekend Construction Resumes on April 15-18

N Judah bus substitution route

The Sunset Tunnel Trackway Improvement Project will resume the weekend construction from 8 p.m. Friday, April 15 until 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 18. Bus shuttles will substitute for the N Judah rail service between Ocean Beach and Church & Duboce from approximately 7 p.m. Friday until the end of Sunday service.

After this weekend, tunnel work will continue at night after service hours with no impacts to Muni service. If the construction requires more shutdowns, it will be coordinated with other projects.

Maximizing construction opportunities, the Transit Signal Priority (TSP) system upgrades will take place at the intersections of Judah Street and Sunset Boulevard, and Judah Street and18th Avenue. Work hours will be 8 to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. During this work, the streets will remain open; however there will be lane closures and traffic will be diverted. The work will not impact the N bus service.

The N Judah stops at Church & Duboce will provide a transfer point between bus shuttles and trains for Muni customers. The first outbound N bus stop west of the tunnel is located on Carl and Cole streets.
