Valencia Bikeway Improvements - January 2023 Project Update

Thank you so much for your continued interest in the Valencia Bikeway Improvements Project.  

In response to feedback we received during the fall open house, the project team has been actively testing alternative bikeway separation materials for the center-running protected bikeway pilot and securing funding to study the Valencia Long-Term Project Concepts, including a curbside two-way protected bikeway and pedestrianized Valencia Street. Along with changes to the buffer and bikeway separation materials, our center-running protected bikeway pilot project limits are now proposed on Valencia Street between 15th and 23rd streets. The southern limit was previously 24th Street.  

Next Steps  

The final pilot proposal will be heard at a joint Public Hearing and the SFMTA Board of Directors meeting in spring 2023. Please be on the lookout for another project update in the coming weeks for more information.
