Van Ness Outbound and Montgomery Inbound Escalators Back In Service

The SFMTA is happy to announce that the rehabilitation work on the outbound escalator at Van Ness station is complete and has returned to service on Monday, March 11, 2019. The inbound Montgomery station escalator also followed in completion and returned to service on Thursday, March 21, 2019.  As the Muni Metro Station Escalator Rehabilitation Project continues, the next unit to undergo rehabilitation is the inbound Van Ness escalator. Starting Monday, March 18, 2019, the inbound Van Ness escalator will be out of service for about four months. For access to the outbound platform, customers can use the station elevator for service.

To ensure safety as well as contain construction debris and minimize noise levels, a wooden barricade has been built around the escalator at Church Station. Work hours are from 6 a.m. to 5p.m. weekdays with some weekend work required.

Concurrently the outbound platform escalator at Church is still under rehabilitation and will return to service in Spring 2019.
