New traffic signals at Alemany Boulevard and Theresa Street were activated on 2/23/2024.

New traffic signals at the following locations have been previously activated:

  • Kezar Drive and Lincoln Way, activated 9/14/2023
  • Alemany Boulevard and Lawrence Avenue, activated 11/30/2023
  • 9th Street, Division Street, and San Bruno Avenue, activated 1/11/2024
Project Introduction

Contract 65 New Traffic Signals will construct new traffic signals at six intersections and pedestrian-activated flashing beacons at one intersection to improve traffic, pedestrian, and bicycle safety and traffic operations. The scope of work includes new traffic signals (mast arms, signal heads, controllers, conduit, wiring, and poles), pedestrian countdown signals, accessible (audible) pedestrian signals, updated curb ramps, and a pedestrian crossing with pedestrian-activated rectangular rapid-flashing beacons.

The project was made possible in part by Proposition K Sales Tax dollars provided by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, General Obligation Bonds, and other local funds.

Contract 65 will also construct new traffic signals at a seventh intersection, 39th Avenue, Skyline Boulevard, and Sloat Boulevard including 12” signal heads, mast arms, new signal poles, pedestrian countdown signals, accessible pedestrian signals, updated curb ramps, and updated streetlighting. In addition, an existing median will be modified to allow for a second left turn lane for northbound Skyline Boulevard.

The new traffic signals at 39th Avenue, Skyline Boulevard, and Sloat Boulevard were made possible in part by Proposition L Sales Tax dollars provided by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority and a California State Earmark.
