Purpose

Greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector are an important metric to track as they are a significant driver of climate change and adversely impact San Francisco’s environmental quality.

Definition

Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) is estimated by the San Francisco Department of the Environment and reported annually.
