Short-Term Permit Information
Temporary permits are available for residents of RPP areas for short term use for rental cars or visitors.
Types of Permits

2 Week Increment Permits – Start date for use must be provided when purchasing permit. SFMTA will issue permit with this date which cannot be altered or changed. A maximum of 32 weeks allowed per calendar year per address.
One-Day Permits – Buy in advance and scratch off the corresponding date on permit when it is used - the most flexible and convenient option. A maximum of 20 permits per address may be purchased per calendar year. Permits are not refundable or exchangeable. Permits expire at the end of each calendar year.

The SFMTA Customer Service Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents who do not have an active permit must submit proof of residency. Incomplete applications or those without required supporting documents cannot be processed. Make checks payable to SFMTA.
Please allow three weeks for processing of permits by mail.
