Service Change Summary
Beginning on Saturday, June 6, Muni is making service changes across San Francisco. These changes aim to improve reliability, reduce crowding and make trips more consistent for riders. These changes are based on rider feedback, operator input and service data. They are also being implemented in a cost-neutral way. Some changes add service where ridership totals indicate it is needed. Others adjust stops and schedules that help Muni buses and trains run more smoothly. These service changes also save Muni operational costs without affecting riders. We are updating schedules on several routes to help reduce delays and improve spacing between buses and trains. Muni Service Changes
More Service Where Riders Need It
- 5R Fulton Rapid: To reduce crowding, we are adjusting service. The schedule will change to shorten the gap between 5R buses.
- 14 Mission and 14 Owl: To give riders more space, we are adding late-night trips between about 10:15 p.m. and 1:15 a.m.
Route and Stop Changes
- 19 Polk: To better-reflect its location, we are renaming stop ID #13093 from “Beach St & Polk St” to “Beach St & Larkin St.”
- 31 Balboa: Some inbound trips that end at the Presidio Yard will now offer a final drop-off only stop at Geary Blvd & Masonic Ave (existing 38 Geary/38R Geary Rapid stop; ID #17593)
- 35 Eureka: The terminal stop will officially move back to Market St & Castro St. This stop on Market Street will become drop-off only. The first outbound stop will move to Castro St & Market St.
- 48 Quintara/24th Street: To help buses move more efficiently, we are removing closely spaced stops near Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
- Removed: 23rd St & Vermont St (ID #13455) Inbound; Use 23rd St & Utah St (ID #13453)
- Removed: 23rd St & Vermont St (ID #13456) Outbound; Use 23rd St & Utah St (ID #13454)
- North Point St & Larkin St Stop Changes: To improve service and make stops easier to understand, we are removing closely spaced stops near Fisherman’s Wharf.
- North Point St & Larkin St (ID #15464), served by the 28, 30, & 91 routes – Use North Point St & Hyde St (ID #15458) or North Point St & Polk St (ID #15468) instead.
- North Point St & Larkin St (ID #15465), served by the 30 & 91 routes – Use North Point St & Hyde St (ID #15459) or North Point St & Polk St (ID #15469) instead.
