The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) releases the following upcoming event-related traffic and transit impacts for the week from Thursday, May 29 through Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Concert at Oracle Park

Thursday, May, 29: Kendrick Lamar and Sza bring their Grand National Tour to Oracle Park. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening of event, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic.
  • Until post-event traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

Taxi Stands

  • East side of 2nd Street between King and Townsend streets
  • West side of 2nd street between King and Townsend streets
  • West side of 2nd street between Townsend and Brannan streets

Special Event Parking Rates

During baseball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the ballpark, parking meters close to the ballpark will charge a special event rate of $11 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the ballpark, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. PTO San Francisco Stop at the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon

Saturday, May 31: The annual “Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon” on Sunday will be preceded by another triathlon being put on in conjunction with the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO). The PTO Triathlon is equivalent to the PGA, LPGA and ATP, a membership-based organization of the World.

The race will begin at 6 a.m. on the City Cruises ship in the San Francisco Bay between the piers and the island of Alcatraz with 2K (1.2M) swim to the Marina Green Beach adjacent to the St. Francis Yacht Club. The 80K (50M) bike course will be five loops going out the Presidio making a turnaround on El Camino Del Mar at 30th Avenue. The 18K (11M) run course will have three loops between the Marina Green and the Warming Hut.

The following street closures will be required from 3 to 11 a.m., Saturday, though lifted as quickly as possible as the race passes through, local access is being maintained:

  • El Camino Del Mar between Lincoln Boulevard (Land’s End/Legion of Honor and The Presidio)
  • 25th,  26th, 27th, 28th and 30th avenues between El Camino Del Mar and Lake Street
  • 29th Avenue between Lake Street and McLaren Avenue
  • McLaren Avenue between El Camino Del Mar and 28th Avenue
  • Marina Boulevard between Lyon and Fillmore streets

The 29 Sunset and 30 Stockton Muni routes will be affected.

Union Street Festival

Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1: The annual Union Street Festival will take place on Union Street between Gough and Fillmore streets. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. For more details, visit www.unionstreetsf.com.

The following street closures will be required from 12 a.m., Saturday to 11:59 p.m., Sunday:

  • Union Street between Gough and Fillmore streets
  • Octavia Street between Green and Filbert streets
  • Laguna Street between Green and Filbert streets
  • Buchanan Street between Green and Filbert streets
  • Webster Street between Green and Filbert streets
  • Intersections: Union Street at Octavia, Laguna, Buchanan and Webster streets

Fillmore Street will remain open for through traffic, it may be congested due to crowds. Local access for residents will be allowed on the impacted streets except for Union Street.

Taxi Stand

  • Fillmore Street, west side, between Green Street and Union Street
  • Gough Street, west side, between Union Street and Filbert Street

The 45 Union/Stockton Muni route will be affected.

Festa Coloniale Italiana

Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1: The annual Festa Coloniale Italiana will take place in the North Beach area along Stockton Street between Union and Filbert streets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more event details, visit https://www.sfiac.org/events .

The following street closures will be required from 5 a.m., Saturday, May 31 to 9 p.m., Sunday, June 1:

  • Stockton Street between Union and Filbert streets

The 39-Coit Muni route will be affected.

Statuto Race

Sunday, June 1: The 104th annual Italian Club Statuto Race will begin at 9 a.m. in North Beach. This race consists of an eight-mile run and a two-mile walk starting from Washington Square Park to North Point to Herb Caen Way along the waterfront to Bryant Street and return to Washington Square. The following street closures will be required from 7 a.m. to noon:

  • Stockton Street between Union and Filbert streets

The 39 Coit Muni route will be affected.

Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon

Sunday, June 1: The annual “Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon” will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a swim from a barge off Alcatraz into the beach next to the St. Francis Yacht Club. For event details, visit www.escapealcatraztri.com.

Bike riders will leave Marina Green, then bike into the Presidio to the Great Highway through Golden Gate Park and back to the Marina for the run to Baker Beach and back to the finish line on Marina Green.

The northernmost lanes of Marina Boulevard between Scott and Lyon streets will be closed between 3 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The following street closures will be implemented from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., though lifted as quickly as possible as the race passes through, with local access being maintained:

  • El Camino del Mar between Lincoln Boulevard and Lincoln Park
  • 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, and 32nd avenues between El Camino del Mar and Lake Street
  • McLaren Avenue between El Camino del Mar and 28th Avenue
  • Clement Street between 34th Avenue and Seal Rock Drive
  • 34th, 35th, 36th, 37th, 38th, 39th and 40th avenues between Geary Boulevard and Clement Street
  • 41st, 42nd, 43rd, 44th, and 45th avenues between Point Lobos Avenue and Clement Street
  • Seal Rock Drive between 45th Avenue and El Camino del Mar
  • 45th Avenue, Alta Mar Way and El Camino del Mar between Point Lobos Avenue and Seal Rock Drive
  • Point Lobos Avenue between El Camino del Mar and Great Highway

The following Muni routes will be affected by the triathlon: 18 46th Avenue; 29 Sunset; 30 Stockton; 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid.

Event at Chase Center

Sunday, June 1: The Golden State Valkyries will host the Los Angeles Sparks at the Chase Center. The game will start at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m.

Supplemental Muni Service

  • Muni will operate supplemental 78X Arena Express service.
  • Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
  • Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center on 16th Street to 16th Street BART Station will run until the clears.

Special Event Parking Rates

During basketball games and other area major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $11 per hour from 3 to 10 p.m. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on SFMTA.com/SpecialEventParking.

.Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after an event.
  • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.

No Parking Zone

To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

Other pickup/drop-off locations near Chase Center

  • 4th Street, which connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.
  • Owens Street, which also connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Games

Monday, June 2 through Thursday, June 5: The San Francisco Giants will play four home games at the ballpark. Listed below are start times for these games:

  • Four games against the San Diego Padres: 1) 6:45 p.m., Monday, June 2; 2) 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 3; 3) 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 4; and 4) 12:45 p.m., Thursday, June 5.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
  • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

  • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
  • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
  • 3rd Street, west side, north of King Street

CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES

UPDATED: Castro Elevator Accessibility Improvement Project

Monday, April 21 and continuing through Monday, May 30, Castro Station south escalator will be out of commission for two and a half weeks to accommodate construction activities for the Castro Elevator Accessibility Improvement project.

The concrete walkway and lamp replacement work will temporarily block access to the escalator on the south side of the station. During this time, Muni customer should utilize the escalator on the north side for accessibility to the station.

UPDATED: Cable Car Sheaves Upgrade Project

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 18, crews will be restoring the cable car system sheaves, which are massive, grooved wheels that guide the underground cables through specialized pulley systems.

These upgrades will take place from Tuesday, Feb. 18 and will continue through September 2025. During this work:

  • there will be occasional closures of individual cable car segments;
  • bus shuttles will replace cable car lines where work is being done;
  • at least one cable car route will remain open to the public during normal operating hours while sections are being upgraded.
