It’s a good time to be a basketball fan in San Francisco. The WNBA’s newest expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries, will play their very first home game on Friday, May 16, at Chase Center.

We’re here to help you cheer on the Valkyries! Learn how to get to their games on Muni – from fares to directions. Plus, hear what we’re doing to make your transfers easier as you head to Chase Center.

Your ticket is your fare

We know that sporting events and live concerts bring people together. That’s why we have teamed with Chase Center to give music lovers and sports fans a home field advantage. Your ticket is your fare

How it works

Your digital pass or paper ticket to any Chase Center event counts as proof of payment for Muni service on the day of the event you’re attending. That applies if you’re heading to Valkyries or Warriors games and concerts. At Muni Metro stations, just enter through the double-wide faregate doors.

You’re bound to see other basketball fans when you choose Muni to watch the Valkyries. About 3,500 Warriors fans regularly take public transit to games at Chase Center! That number is even higher for live concerts.

Why? Because riding Muni to Chase Center is convenient -- no matter where you’re coming from.

Taking Muni Metro from inside the city is also a slam dunk. If you are near the T Third, you can take that line directly to UCSF/Chase Center. This stop will get you right outside the arena.

Coming from downtown or the Financial District? You can hop on any other Muni Metro line and transfer to the T Third at Powell Station.

Haven’t made this transfer before? We’re here to help.

How to transfer from Powell to Union Square/Market Street

We added special floor signs to make it easier for people to get from Powell Station to Union Square / Market Street Station. These signs will guide you from the train platforms at Powell Station all the way to the T Third platform at Union Square / Market Street Station.

Here’s the process, step by step:

  • Exit your train at Powell
  • Head up to the main concourse – you can walk or take the escalator or elevator.
    • If you aren’t exactly sure where to go, look for this sign:

  • Follow these decals (below) on the floor of the main concourse.
    • They will get you all the way to the faregates for Union Square / Market Street Station.
