Dear Community Members,
Thank you for your ongoing patience as we work to complete construction of the Folsom Streetscape Project.
Return of parking and color curb designations
As work continues, we want to let you know that parking and loading signs will be installed in the coming weeks (October 2026 through the end of the year). Many of the curbside uses that were temporarily removed during construction are being restored. Anticipated parking and loading arrangements will mostly look like what was in place before construction, with some minor adjustments to account for changing business operations.
Please pay close attention to all posted signs.
Following posted regulations will help avoid citations or towing.
Conveniently pay for parking directly from your smartphone with the ParkMobile and HotSpot apps. Get reminders before your parking session expires and add time remotely — download the app and enjoy hassle-free parking!

More visible signage
As part of this work, we are also introducing a new approach to sign placement to make curb regulations easier to see and understand. Look for new parking and loading signs installed along the concrete medians bordering the new two-way bikeway. Placing signs closer to the parking lane will help drivers better identify where different types of curb activity are permitted. As these changes are installed, our initial focus will be on public awareness and education to help people become familiar with the new signage and curb regulations.
What to expect in the coming weeks:
- Parking and loading changes along Folsom Street from 2nd to 11th Streets, including side streets.
- New parking and loading signs installed along concrete medians closer to the parking lane.
- Street sweeping signs will remain in their current locations along the sidewalk.
- Flyers and notices posted on utility poles and windshields in advance of implementation to help inform the community.
Let your friends, family, and customers know about these parking changes. Download the printable informational flyer here.
Background
When the SFMTA Board of Directors first approved the Folsom Streetscape Project in spring 2019, it also approved a complementary curb management plan. The plan includes parking and loading changes designed to support the new streetscape improvements while balancing the many demands on limited curb space. It allocates curb access for uses such as transit, deliveries, parking, accessibility, bikeshare, and parklets to support the diverse needs of the Folsom Street community.
We have since refined and updated the plan over the years through community meetings, door-to-door outreach, and ongoing conversations with fronting establishments along the corridor. The new configuration reflects the changes that have occurred over the past several years, including new businesses opening, existing businesses changing delivery operations, and evolving curb access and loading needs.
If you have any questions or would like more details on specific locations, please visit SFMTA.com/FolsomStreetscape or email us at Folsom@SFMTA.com.
We will continue to monitor the project and provide additional updates as needed. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to creating a more vibrant, accessible, and welcoming Folsom Street.
Sincerely,
Folsom Streetscape Project Team
