Soon, SFMTA crews will colorize red the existing southbound transit lane on Hyde Street between Eddy and Market streets. This work is a painting upgrade—not a change to lane configuration, curb use, loading or access.
Why This Work Is Happening
Red colorization helps clarify where transit lanes are located. This helps by reducing driver confusion and increasing compliance of the transit lane. These improvements help keep Muni and Golden Gate Transit buses moving reliably through the Tenderloin and Civic Center neighborhoods.
What Neighbors Should Expect
- Work will be brief and scheduled to minimize impacts to traffic, loading and business access.
- Crews may be present during off-peak hours.
- No parking, loading zones or driveway access will change.
- All roadway rules and use of the transit lane will remain exactly the same.
Funded by the State of California
This improvement is funded through the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program. This program supports infrastructure projects that improve connections to affordable housing and transit.
