48 Quintara-24th Street Safety
Beginning Saturday, April 15, 2023, the 48 Quintara-24th Street will run on a new pilot daytime route in its final blocks in the Dogpatch neighborhood. The 48 Quintara-24th Street will no longer run on Tennessee Street or 20th Street before turning back to 22nd Street.

Due to safety concerns involving the turn from 3rd Street onto 20th Street, where there have been several collisions involving buses over the past year and a half, the 48 Quintara-24th Street was rerouted in July 2022 to Tennessee Street. Tennessee Street is already designed for transit where the 55 Dogpatch also currently operates.
We have heard from some members of the community about their concerns about the current routing of the 48 Quintara-24th Street. In response to community feedback, we are conducting a survey to collect a more comprehensive understanding of what the community thinks about the limited alternative solutions than the existing routing. While community feedback is an important component of decision-making when planning bus routes, safety is always our top priority.
