San Francisco will ring in the Lunar New Year with celebrations marking the start of the Year of the Horse — a period of rapid change, freedom, and unstoppable energy. While the official start of this year’s Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday, Feb. 17, several events in the City are planned for both February and March to recognize the holiday.

In advance of this year’s celebrations, we’ve compiled information about some of the large-scale gatherings that will impact travel and transit in San Francisco. This includes the Lunar New Year Parade on Saturday, March 7. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has approved free Muni service, not including cable cars, for that day.
