40-foot Bus Service Substitutions: UPDATED June 26, 2026

Muni Service Adjustment

UPDATE: As of Friday, June 26, the 39 Coit route has resumed regular service using 30-foot buses.

The 36 Teresita and 37 Corbett routes continue to be provided by 40-foot buses and will operate under the revised service adjustments.

We have removed our 30-foot hybrid-electric buses from service to address a vehicle issue we discovered recently. To maintain as much service as possible while we inspect the buses and make repairs, if needed, we are using our 40-foot buses on some routes. 

Temporary reroutes are currently in effect on the 36 Teresita and 37 Corbett. We had to modify service on these routes because the 40-foot buses cannot navigate some of the routes’ tight turns or narrow streets. That means we cannot serve some of the stops along these routes. 

Below is a list of stops that are currently being impacted.

Muni will have ambassadors along the impacted segments during the morning and evening peak periods to help direct riders.

For some seniors and people with disabilities, walking farther to the nearest stop or paying for other transportation simply isn’t possible. For these riders, the Essential Trip Card provides two to three round trips by taxi and at 20% of the cost of a regular cab fare. The Essential Trip Card is accepted by all taxis in San Francisco. 

We regret the inconvenience to our riders and are working to restore regular service as soon as we can.
