External Communications, Marketing & Outreach

The External Communications, Marketing & Outreach Division is responsible for internal and external communications that engage and share information with customers, stakeholders and the public. The division is responsible for media and public relations, marketing, special events, creative services, community outreach and Muni customer service. The functional expertise of the division enables the SFMTA to keep customers, stakeholders and the general public informed about transportation services, as well as, capital improvement plans and projects that impact people and the communities we serve.

Division Purpose Statement

  • We create and share content that's multilingual and accessible. This makes getting around San Francisco easy and enjoyable.
  • We produce compelling campaigns and events. These grow and engage our diverse community of customers.
  • We meet people where they are, seeking feedback and sharing results. This strengthens trust in the SFMTA.
  • We amplify the public's voice to decision makers. This helps the SFMTA build a more equitable transportation network.
