Jeremy is the SFMTA's Staff Photographer and oversees the functions of the Photo Department and Photo Archive. His work is primarily focused on providing photographic services for the Agency, from construction and project documentation to portraiture, public events, and generating an extensive library of stock images of every aspect of our transportation network. In addition to creating contemporary images for SFMTA staff use, he manages the Photo Department's website, SFMTA.com/photo, which is a portal for both staff and the public to view and access contemporary as well as historic images from the Photo Archive.

The Photo Archive is the historic image repository of the Photo Department and holds tens of thousands of important transportation photographs dating to 1903.  These images, taken by generations of staff photographers working both for the City of San Francisco and various private transit companies, show the evolution of transportation in San Francisco and document some of the most important moments in our local transportation history. Through a decade-long project, the SFMTA Photographer and Photo Archivist have preserved over 20,000 historic images between 1903 and 1978. These images have been digitized, catalogued, and made available to staff and the public. The SFMTA Photo Archive cares for one of the most comprehensive and robust collections of transit images of San Francisco and is an essential part of preserving the history of public transportation in the city.
