This Weekend: Earth Day, March for Science and Mission Crit Bike Race
Take advantage of the forecasted sunny weather this weekend by coming downtown to celebrate Earth Day or take in a heart-pounding bicycle race in the Mission.

Earth Day Festival
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Civic Center Plaza
Join your fellow Earthlings at the Civic Center Plaza to celebrate this planet we call home. The Earth Day festival will feature live music, a showcase of organic celebrity chefs, panel discussions and speakers, food courts, beer and wine gardens, a clean energy zone and more.
How to Get There on (environmentally-friendly) Muni: Any Muni Metro line, the F Market & Wharves Line and the 5 Fulton, 6 Haight-Parnassus, 7 Haight-Noriega, 9 San Bruno, 14 Mission, 4R Mission Rapid, 19 Polk and 21 Hayes routes will take you near Civic Center Plaza.
March for Science
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Market Street, from Justin Herman Plaza to Civic Center Plaza
The March for Science begins with a rally at 11 a.m. at Justin Herman Plaza (where Market Street meets The Embarcadero). At 12:30 p.m., the march will make its way down Market Street to Civic Center Plaza, where a Science Fair will be held from 3 to 6 p.m.
Muni service note: Muni Metro lines may see delays due to increased ridership. There will be reroutes and possible delays on the F Market & Wharves Line, 2 Clement, 5 Fulton, 6 Haight-Parnassus, 7 Haight-Noriega, 8 Bayshore, 9 San Bruno, 10 Townsend, 12 Folsom-Pacific, 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 19 Polk, 21 Hayes, 27 Bryant, 30 Stockton, 31 Balboa, 38 Geary / 38R Geary Rapid and 45 Union-Stockton routes.
Mission Crit Bicycle Race
Saturday, 8 p.m.
The Mission Crit fixed-gear bicycle race returns to the Mission this Saturday evening, pitting road racers, track racers and bike messengers against one another in an adrenaline-fueled competition. The women’s race kicks off at 8 p.m. and the men’s race begins at 9 p.m.
How to Get There on Muni: The 12 Folsom-Pacific, 22 Fillmore, 27 Bryant, and 49 Van Ness-Mission routes will take riders near the race’s starting line on Harrison at 17th Street.
Muni service note: No reroutes or service delays are expected for this event.
Van Ness Construction Reminder
All left turn lanes on Van Ness Avenue have been removed with the exceptions of those at Broadway (southbound), Lombard Street (northbound), and temporarily at Hayes Street (northbound).
Van Ness traffic lanes have been reduced from three to two on these segments:
- Northbound from Post to Filbert Street
- Southbound from Filbert to Washington Street

Temporary J Church and K Ingleside Service Changes Reminder
Due to Balboa Park Station Area and Plaza Improvement construction work, temporary stop changes are in effect for the J Church and K Ingleside lines at Balboa Park Station through the end of April. For details, please visit sfmta.com/greenlightrail.
