Video: Get Your Right Turns Right

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Turning right when a bike lane is present is one of the most dangerous and difficult maneuvers for car drivers on city streets. As part of the VisionZero project the SFMTA provides simple and clear instructions in this animated example to help drivers perform this simple, but misunderstood procedure.

  1. Signal to indicate your turning
  2. Look for people on bikes in the lane
  3. Merge into the bike lane before the turn
  4. Turn Right from the bike lane and carry on safely.
