The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) releases the following upcoming event-related traffic and transit impacts for this week from Thursday, Oct. 30 through Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.

End of Daylight Saving Time

Sunday, Nov. 2: Daylight Saving Time will end at 2 a.m., Sunday. Clocks should be set back one hour at this time.

Castro Night Market

Friday, Oct. 31: The Castro Night Market will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. on 18th and Castro streets. For more details, visit castro-night-market. This event occurs on the third Friday of every month.

The following street and parking lot closures will be required from 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday, Oct. 31:

  • 18th Street between Noe and Diamond streets
  • The SFMTA parking lot behind Walgreens

These intersections on 18th Street will remain open at all times: Hartford, Castro and Collingwood streets

The 33 Ashbury/18th Street Muni route will be affected.

River of Life Halloween

Friday, Oct. 31: River of Life Church will host their annual Halloween event.

A street closure of Sunnydale Avenue between Hahn and Sawyer streets will be required from 2 to 10 p.m.

The 8 Bayshore and 56 Rutland Muni route will be impacted.

Halloween

Friday, Oct. 31: The SFMTA will provide regular Muni service for Halloween. Transit customers and motorists may experience delays and should allow extra travel time. While no major street closures have been planned in the Castro/Noe/Mission areas, San Francisco police officers will monitor pedestrian and automobile traffic for any necessary public safety street closures.

Neighborhood trick-or-treat closures have been permitted on a number of streets around the City. Times for trick-or-treat closures vary but most will be in place from about 5 p.m. until 9 or 10 p.m. Motorists should be attentive for these closures, and also slow down and be aware of children trick-or-treating throughout the City even where no street closures are in place.

Some of the larger trick-or-treat street closures include:

  • Fair Oaks Street between 22nd and 26th streets
  • Chenery Street between Diamond and Elk streets
  • Cortland Avenue between Bennington & Gates streets
  • Commonwealth Avenue and Jordan Avenue between California Street and Geary Boulevard
  • Shotwell Street between 21th and 22nd streets
  • Avila Street between Chestnut and Prado streets
  • Grove Street between Baker Street and Central Avenue
  • Lyon Street between Fulton and Hayes streets

Cortland Halloween

Friday, Oct. 31: To allow for pedestrian overflow during trick-or-treating, streets in Bernal Heights will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5 to 9 p.m.:

  • Cortland Street between Bennington and Gates streets
  • Moultrie Street between Cortland and Eugenia avenues
  • Anderson Street between Eugenia and Jarboe avenues
  • Ellsworth Street between Cortland and Eugenia avenues

The 24 Divisadero Muni route will be impacted.

Día de Muertos Celebration

Saturday, Nov. 1: The Tenderloin Street Fair’s Día de Muertos celebration will take place in the Tenderloin neighborhood on Golden Gate Avenue. Event hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. For more details visit Día de Muertos celebration.

Golden Gate Avenue between Larkin and Jones streets will be closed from 8 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 to 1 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 2.

There will be no impact on Muni service.

Stuff Saturdays – Shared Space

Saturday, Nov. 1: The vintage and modern collective store, Stuff by Luxe, will host a monthly Roadway Shared Space with multiple vendors Street in the Mission District. This event will take place on the first Saturday of each month.

The following street closures will be required from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1:

  • Harrison Street between 14th and 15th streets
  • Alameda Street between Harrison Street and Treat Avenue
  • Treat Avenue between Division Street/Florida Street and Alameda Street
  • Alabama Street between Treat Avenue and 15th Street

These closures will occur on the first Saturday of every month through Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.

There will be no impact on Muni service.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead Procession)

Saturday, Nov. 1: The annual Día de los Muertos Procession will take place. There will be two processions this year. Staging of procession will start at 6 p.m. in the Mission District. The first procession will start staging on Bryant Street, from 19th to 22nd streets. The second procession will start staging on York Street, from 24th to 25th streets.

The first procession will start from Bryant and 22nd streets and follow the route south on Bryant Street, west on 24th Street, north on Mission Street and then east on 22nd Street.

The second procession will start from York Street and follow the route west on 24th streets, south on Mission Street, east on 25th Street, north on Capp Street and then east on 24th Street.

Traffic and Muni routes will be detoured around the procession. Traffic in the event area should be expected to be heavy until approximately 10 p.m. Motorists and transit riders should allow extra travel time.

The following Muni routes will be impacted: 12 Folsom; 14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid; 27 Bryant; 48 Quintara/24th Street; 49 Van Ness/Mission; and 67 Bernal Heights.

Golden Gate Half Marathon

Sunday, Nov. 2: The annual Golden Gate Half Marathon will take place in the morning. The marathon will start on Van Ness Avenue at Beach Street before proceeding via Bay Street, Laguna Street and Marina Boulevard, then through the Presidio to Golden Gate Bridge and back through the Marina and Fort Mason, ending at Aquatic Park. Limited street closures for event set up will begin the day before the race on Saturday, Nov. 2, near the Maritime Museum. The street closures for the race itself, including closures in the Presidio, will take place between 5 a.m. and noon on Sunday, Nov. 2:

6 a.m., Saturday to 5 p.m., Sunday:

  • Beach Street between Hyde Street and Westerly Terminus
  • Larkin Street between Beach Street and the Impark Parking lot Entrance

5 a.m. to Noon, Sunday

  • Southbound Van Ness Avenue from North Point to Bay streets
  • Polk Street between Beach and North Point streets

6 to 11:45 a.m., Sunday

  • North Point Street from Van Ness Avenue to Polk Street (Access will be allowed for eastbound Muni buses)
  • Bay Street (Westbound lanes only) between Van Ness Avenue and Laguna Street
  • Laguna Street (Northbound lanes only) between Bay and Beach streets
  • Mariana Boulevard (Westbound lanes only) between Laguna and Lyon streets

7 to 8:15 a.m., Sunday

  • Girard Road (Westbound lanes only) between Mariana and Lincoln boulevards
  • The US 101 freeway on ramp will be closed

The course will impact all Muni routes that use the North Point loop terminal. The following Muni routes will be affected: 19 Polk; 28 19th Avenue; 30 Stockton and 49 Van Ness-Mission.

Event at Chase Center

Tuesday, Nov. 4: There will be a basketball game to take place at the Chase Center:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 4: The Warriors will host a home game against the Phoenix Suns. Game will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Muni will provide supplement 78X Arena Express service:

  • Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
  • Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center on 16th Street to 16th Street BART Station will run until the clears.

Special Event Parking Rates

During basketball games and other area major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $12 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on www.sfmta.com/special-event-parking.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  1. 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  2. Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  3. Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.

Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.

No Parking Zone

To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

Other pickup/drop-off locations near Chase Center

  • 4th Street, which connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.
  • Owens Street, which also connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.

CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES

NEW: Caltrans Work—04-1Q802 US101 (Hospital Curve)

This construction project will be upgrading drainage along US101 between Cesar Chavez Street and the interchange of US-101/I-80. Two of three traffic lanes will be closed as listed:

  • Daily closure: From 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to the next day, Monday through Friday
  • Weekend closure: From 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, Saturday and Sunday

Caltrans crews will begin this project in late Oct. 2025.

NEW: Caltrans Work—04-4K1104 (19th Avenue)

The construction project will be reconstructing the parking strip on Northbound Highway 1 (19th Avenue) between Holloway Avenue and Lincoln Way. The right traffic lane will be closed for up to two blocks at a time, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday to Friday.

Caltrans crews will begin this project in late Oct. 2025.

NEW: Caltrans Work—04-0X5804 I280 and US-101

Monday, Nov. 3 through Saturday, Nov. 8: To facilitate Caltrans construction work to install signage and striping, the following on and off ramp closures will be required as listed:

  • Westbound 80 Off Ramp to Macalla Road will be closed from 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3 to 5 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • Northbound 101 Off Ramp to Vermont Street will be closed from 10 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • Northbound 101 Off Ramp to Mission Street will be closed from 11 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to Alemany Boulevard will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3 to 7 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to Monterey Boulevard will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4 to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to San Jose Avenue will be closed from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4
  • Northbound 280 Off Ramp to Geneva Street will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4 to 4 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to Geneva Street will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5 to 7 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to John Daly Boulevard will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5 to 4:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Northbound 280 Off Ramp to San Jose Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5 to 6 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Northbound 280 Off Ramp to Alemany Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6 to 6 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7
  • Southbound 101 Off Ramp to San Bruno Avenue will be closed from 1 to 4 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Southbound 101 Off Ramp to Bayshore Boulevard will be closed from 1:30 to 5 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Northbound 101 Off Ramp to 3rd Street will be closed from 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7 to 7 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8
  • Northbound 280 Off Ramp to Cesar Chavez Street will be closed from 1 to 5 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7
  • Southbound 280 Off Ramp to Mariposa/18th Street will be closed from 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7 to 7 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8

Unless there is any change of work plans by Caltrans crews, this construction work will take place as listed. Signage will be placed in advance of these closures and detour routes.

NEW: Parnassus Avenue Water Project

Monday, Oct. 27 to Thursday, Oct. 30: Contractor, Bassett Engineering, will repave Parnassus Avenue. Below are work schedules:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 30: Work will take place on Parnassus Avenue from Arguello Boulevard to Judah Street and to 6th Avenue.

Grinding work is scheduled on Monday and Tuesday with paving to take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Work hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

During construction,

  • Bus stops will temporarily be closed;
  • All access on Parnassus Avenue will be maintained to UC hospital/campus facilities and building projects.

Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 29: Eastbound Parnassus Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Willard and Stanyan streets during hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During construction hours, eastbound travel will only allow Muni buses, other eastbound through will be detoured.

Personnel from the SFMTA and SF Public Works will be onsite for assistance.

ONGOING

ONGOING: Sewer Replacement and Street Reconstruction in the Wharf Area

Now through Mid-October: As part of this work, bus stops will be relocated and some bus lines will be rerouted. The work area is Powell Street between Jefferson and North Point streets, and, on North Point Street between Mason and Powell streets. The following Muni routes will be impacted by the construction work:

  • The 39 Coit: Some stops will be relocated

UPDATE: SFPUC Geary Boulevard Sewer and Water Replacements

Now until 2027: Replacement work of sewer and water lines is currently taking place along Geary Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Due to construction work at multiple locations, some of the bus stops for Muni routes 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will be temporarily relocated nearby. Riders should look for orange signage at impacted bus stops.
