Outside Lands
Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9: Outside Lands will be held in Golden Gate Park from noon to 10 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Attendance of over 75,000 participants each day is expected over the course of the weekend. For more event details, visit https://sfoutsidelands.com.
The following Muni lines and routes will be impacted with high ridership: N Judah; 5 Fulton; 5R Fulton Rapid; 7 Haight/Noriega; 18 46th Avenue; 28 19th Avenue; 29 Sunset; and 44 O’Shaughnessy.
Due to increased ridership for the event, concert patrons should allow extra travel time on the N Judah Line and all bus routes serving Golden Gate Park. Traffic in the area will also be heavy.
Taxi
Temporary taxi stands for the event will be in place at the following locations from 9 a.m., Friday to 2 a.m., Monday:
- Irving Street between 26th and 27th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
- Fulton Street between 24th and 25th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
- Fulton Street between 28th and 29th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
- Larkin Street. between Hayes and Grove streets. (Taxi Shuttle Service to Festival)
Bicycle
Monitored bicycle parking will be provided.
Muni Service to and from Outside Lands
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from approximately 2 until 11:30 p.m., Muni will provide supplemental service for pre-concert and post-concert:
Pre-concert Muni Service
- N Judah (after 3 p.m.)
- 5R Fulton Rapid (until 8 p.m.)
Concert patrons are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time. Gates will open at 11 a.m. before the first concert each day.
Post-concert Muni Service
After the final concert, from approximately 9:30 until 11:30 p.m., the 5X Civic Center Express bus service will operate directly from Outside Lands to Civic Center BART Station:
- Board the 5X Muni Shuttle at Fulton Street/30th Avenue.
- Final stop will be at Hyde/Grove by Civic Center BART Station, there will be no stops in between.
- For local service from Outside Lands along the 5 Fulton route, take the regular 5 Fulton bus from any other stop.
There will also be supplemental service, from approximately 3 until 11 p.m., on N Judah trains from La Playa to Caltrain Station.

5X Civic Center Express: Fulton Street at 30th Avenue
N Judah: Judah Street at Sunset Boulevard or any N Judah stop on Judah Street
The last bus will depart from Fulton Street at 11:30 p.m. SFMTA staff will be on site to assist customers.

Muni riders with tickets to this event can ride Muni for free all day (except cable cars).
Outside Lands Shuttle Service
The private Outside Lands shuttle service will run between 11 a.m. and midnight each day from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to the event venue. Pistahan Parade and Festival
Saturday, Aug. 8 and Sunday, Aug. 9: The 33rd annual Pistahan Festival will take place at Yerba Buena Gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., each day. For more event details, visit www.pistahan.net.
Saturday, Aug. 8: A parade for the Pistahan Arts Festival will begin at Grove and Larkin streets in Civic Center with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.
The parade will start at 11 a.m. traveling east on Grove Street, east on Market Street, south to 4th Street and into Yerba Buena Gardens, where the Pistahan Festival will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.
Cross traffic will be allowed between parade units on an intermittent basis. Motorists should allow extra travel time if planning to cross Market Street between 8th and 4th streets.
The following Muni lines and routes will be rerouted: F Market & Wharves; 5 Fulton; 6 Hayes/Parnassus; 7 Haight/Noriega; 8 Bayshore; 9 San Bruno; 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express; 19 Polk; 27 Bryant; 30 Stockton; 31 Balboa; and 45 Union/Stockton.
Downtown First Thursdays
Thursday, Aug. 6: The Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) event will take place on 2nd Street from 5 to 10 p.m. This is a free monthly street party that takes place on every first Thursday of the month. For more details, visit www.dftsf.com.
The following street closures will be required from noon until midnight, Thursday, Aug. 6:
- 2nd Street between Market and Howard streets
- Jessie Street between New Montgomery and 2nd streets
- Minna Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
- Natoma Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
- Stevenson Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
These intersections will remain open at all times: 1) 2nd and Mission streets; 2) 2nd and Howard streets.
There will be no impact on Muni service.
Events at Chase Center
Thursday, Aug. 6 through Wednesday, Aug. 12: The Golden State Valkyries will play two games at the Chase Center. Below are details of these games:
- Thursday, Aug. 6: Performance by Lionel Richie will take place. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 12: Golden State Valkyries will play against the Chicago Sky. The game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Muni will provide supplement 78X Arena Express service:
- Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
- Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center to 16th Street BART Station will run until the crowd clears.
Special Event Parking Rates
During basketball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $13 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on www.sfmta.com/special-event-parking.
Street Closures
To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.
Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
No Parking Zone
To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)
Taxi Stands
- There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.
- Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.
Other pickup/drop-off locations near Chase Center
- 4th Street, which connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.
- Owens Street, which also connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.

San Francisco Giants Games
Friday, Aug. 7 through Wednesday, Aug. 12:The San Francisco Giants will play six games at the ballpark. Listed below are the start time for these games:
- Three games against the Detroit Tigers: a) 7:15 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7; b) 4:15 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8; and c) 1:05 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 9.
- Three games against the Houston Astros: a) 6:45 p.m., Monday, Aug. 10; b) 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11; and c) 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Street Closures
To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:
- Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
- From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
- Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

- 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
- 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
- 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street

Larkin Street Roadway Shared Space
Saturday, Aug. 8: The Tenderloin Lower Polk Merchants and Property Owners Association will host their monthly Roadway Shared Space on Larkin Street.
Larkin Street between Eddy and O’Farrell streets will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8.
These closures will occur on the second Saturday of every month through Saturday, Dec. 13, 2026.
The 19 Polk Muni route will be rerouted.
CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES

Drivers, Muni riders and visitors in and around construction zones should allow extra time when visiting the neighborhood.
Portsmouth Square
As part of the Portsmouth Square Project, the demolition of the Kearny Street pedestrian bridge will require the closure of Kearny Street between Clay and Washington streets in August 2026. Keany Street will be fully closed from 1 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8 to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10.

Chinatown Public Health Center
As part of the Chinatown Public Health Center Improvement Project, the Broadway Tunnels will see significant traffic impacts for approximately 14 months.
The Broadway Tunnel is scheduled to be fully closed from 7 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, through 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, then one traffic direction at a time will be closed for approximately seven months each.

NEW: 19th Avenue Rehabilitation Project
Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7: As part of the 19th Avenue Rehabilitation project, Caltrans crews will perform operations of paving the California Street and Park Presidio intersection. Lane closures of both directions along Park Presidio have been scheduled on the nights of Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7.
Listed below are nightly closures for the paving work:
- From 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6 until 6 a.m., Friday, Aug. 7: Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane, plus the median area
- From 12 to 6 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8: The remaining southbound lanes and the other northbound lane
During the paving work and lane closures: 1) at least one lane on 19th Avenue will be open at all times in each direction; 2) Residents may experience some noise during work hours.
Motorists can use Clement Street and Lake Street to go around California Street and get back onto Park Presidio.
Within two weeks after paving is completed, crews will return to install the permanent crosswalk striping. Once all other final tasks are completed, the 19th Avenue project is scheduled to be complete.

UPDATE: Castro Station Accessibility Improvement Project
Construction of the new elevator at Castro Station is wrapping up and once completed will provide continuous accessible access to the Castro Station. Until then, please continue to use the escalator on the north side for accessibility to the station.

UPDATE: 04-3AC80 Curve Warning Sign Project
Monday, Aug 3 through Saturday, Aug. 8: Caltrans will conduct overnight closures of freeway and highway on and off-ramps to upgrade and replace curve warning signs. The closures will start at and end at times noted below and will occur between the evening of Monday, Aug. 3 and the morning of Saturday, Aug. 8.
- US-101 Northbound Bayshore Boulevard off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US-101 Northbound Cesar Chavez Street on-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US-101 Northbound Alemany Boulevard on-ramp will be closed between 12:30 a.m. and 5:15 a.m.
- US-101 Northbound Mission/Otis Street off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 4:59 a.m.
- US-101 Southbound Alemany Boulevard on-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US-101 Northbound Bryant/9th Street off-ramp will be closed between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
- US-101 Southbound Silliman/Silver Street off-ramp will be closed between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
- US-101 Southbound Silliman/Silver Street on-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US-101 Southbound Paul Avenue off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- US-101 Southbound 101 off-Ramp to Southbound State Route 1 (Park Presidio) will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- I-280 Northbound west of 6th Street will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-280 Northbound Army Street/Cesar Chavez Street off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- I-280 Southbound Pennsylvania Avenue on-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-280 Southbound Pennsylvania Avenue off ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Eastbound 7th Street off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Eastbound 80 Harrison Street/1st Street on-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Eastbound Harrison Street/Fremont Street off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Westbound Harrison Street/5th Street off-ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Westbound off ramp at Northbound 101 will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- I-80 Westbound MaCalla (Treasure Island) off ramp at will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

ONGOING: 13th Street Safety Project
Now until 2027: The 13th Street Safety Project is currently under construction to deliver new traffic safety improvements on 13th Street and Duboce Avenue between Folsom and Valencia streets, including protected bike lanes, sidewalk extensions, traffic signal upgrades, accessibility upgrades, sewer upgrades, repaving, and parking/loading changes.
Crews will work at multiple locations over the course of construction, with intermittent lane impacts, traffic shifts, and parking restrictions. Road users should use caution near crews, follow posted signage, and plan for extra travel time when moving through the corridor:

ONGOING: Transbay Howard Streetscape Project – Road Construction
Feb. 2026 through 2028: As a part of the Transbay Howard Streetscape Project, new safety upgrades, traffic signal infrastructure, landscaping and a protected two-way bicycle lane are being built on Howard Street between The Embarcadero and 4th Street.
Due to work at multiple sites, expect intermittent delays and lane closures on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers should exercise caution near construction zones, follow posted detour signage, and consider using alternate routes. During major events and conventions, work will be paused near Moscone Center.

ONGOING: SFPUC Geary Boulevard Sewer and Water Replacements
Now until 2027: Replacement work of sewer and water lines is currently taking place along Geary Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Due to construction work at multiple locations, some of the bus stops for Muni routes 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will be temporarily relocated nearby. Riders should look for orange signage at impacted bus stops.
UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION
UPCOMING: Caltrans Project 04-1Q8204 US 101 Hospital Curve Pave and Median Contract
Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7 (Labor Day Weekend) and Friday, Sept. 18 through Monday, Sept. 21: Caltrans project will be fully closing Northbound US 101 between Cesar Chavez Street and 7th Street exit to perform concrete pavement replacement work. Northbound I-280 and Northbound Potrero are alternate routes during this work.
Friday, Oct. 2 through Monday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Oct. 19: Caltrans contractors will then proceed to fully close Southbound US-101 between 9th Street/Civic Center exit and Cesar Chavez Street exit. Southbound I-280 via 6th Street and Southbound Potrero are alternate routes during this work. More details to follow.
Caltrans contractors will deploy traffic control personnel and message boards will be in place in advance of the closures. SFMTA Parking Control Officers will be assisting along critical points along detour routes to help facilitate traffic congestion. Motorists are advised to take other modes of transportation to travel in and out of San Francisco over these weekends. UPCOMING: Caltrans Project 04-0Q020 Bayshore and Central Viaduct Contract
Friday, Oct. 23 to Monday, Oct. 26: Caltrans will conduct a full closure of westbound I-80 between 4th Street and the US-101/I-80 interchange the weekend from Friday, Oct. 23 to Monday, Oct. 26. Detours and alternate routes will be established, signed and messaged. More details to follow.
